Sant Eknath’s daughter was married to a very learned Pandit. Over the period of time, this pandit came into a bad company and started drinking alcohol, gambling etc, every night.
Eknath’s daughter was worried due to husband’s behavior, and asked Sant Eknath to help her.
Eknath knew that, asking the son-in-law to give-up the bad habits will not go well. So, instead he asked him to teach a shloka of Bhagavad Gita to his wife before going out in the night, in the pretext that, it will make his wife not to pester him once he comes back home.
Surprisingly, within few weeks, Sant Eknath’s son-in-law gave up all the bad habits, and was back to his normal self.
If you think, It is not that Bhagavad Gita did any magic here, instead, reading it regularly helped the son-in-law to reflect on what he doing, and helped him take corrective actions.
We all too, in varying degree, have moments in our life, where we could lose direction. In order to make sure that we make right decisions in those moments, we also need to make it a habit to read at least 1 shloka everyday from Bhagavad Gita. This way, we will train our mind to have the ‘Vivek Buddhi’ to take correct decisions, when the time comes.
It is not a huge time investment, but I am sure will have huge benefits to everyone of us.
